Mission
PRRC exists to know Jesus Christ, follow Jesus Christ, and proclaim Jesus Christ to our neighbors and the nations.
PRRC strives to follow our Lord Jesus Christ’s command found in Matthew 28:18-20.
“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
In these verses, the Lord gives us both a promise of his all-powerful presence with his Church and the call to go and make disciples of all nations. Disciples are those who know and follow Jesus, expressing their love and devotion to him in their obedience to his commandments.
KNOW
Discipleship begins with a personal knowledge of Jesus. Before we can obey Christ, we must trust him. Therefore, our church exists to know Jesus Christ. We want to know him and rest in the Father’s love, the Son’s finished work, and the Spirit’s power as we walk out the life of faith.
GROW
Discipleship also entails obeying Christ’s commands. Scripture tells us that the destiny of the Christian is “to be conformed to the image of God’s Son” (Romans 8:29). This conformity happens progressively throughout our lives as we continually put on Christ (Colossians 3:12) and grow in holiness by the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, our church exists to grow in Jesus Christ more and more each day as we live in a cycle of repentance and faith.
GO
Discipleship isn’t complete without the call to go. We are blessed by the gospel to be a blessing and to be agents of reconciliation, calling the world to faith in Christ and reconciliation with God. This happens at both the local and global levels as we seek to reach both our neighbors and far-off nations with the glorious truth of the gospel. Therefore, our church exists to go and proclaim who Jesus is and what he has done so that grace may extend to more and more people for the glory of God (2 Corinthians 4:15).

Values
Our values are aspirational characteristics of our church body. These values are guiding principles that we strive to be increasingly characterized by.
Word-Centered: We strive to make Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, and the written word of God (the Bible) the center of all that we do at Port Republic Riverside Church. We do this by making the proclamation and teaching of the Bible prominent and central in our corporate worship and discipleship activities, seeking guidance from the whole counsel of God in Scripture as we make decisions, and insisting on biblical fidelity in our church’s doctrine, worship, programs, ministries, and church life.
Cross-Shaped: We declare our conviction, drawn from Scripture, that the cross of Christ is the supreme display of God’s perfection, beauty, power, and love. We declare our conviction, drawn from Scripture, that the death and resurrection of Christ is the apex of God’s victory and the keystone of his saving plan. We strive to make Jesus’ death on the cross and his resurrection from the dead the pattern for how we live as individuals and for how we function as a church. We do this by committing to fruitful death, embracing God’s power in our weakness, walking in humility and sacrificial love, and experiencing and sharing the new life found in Christ.
Spirit-Dependent: We confess our dependence and desire for the Holy Spirit’s presence, power, and guidance as we know, follow, and proclaim Christ. We confess our inability to bear any fruit apart from our Spirit-enabled union with Jesus Christ, our vine. We are deeply convinced that apart from the Holy Spirit we are powerless and so we are burdened as a way of life with absolute dependence on the Spirit of God for all things.*
Purpose-Driven: We recognize that all we do as a church must be driven by our purpose: to worship and enjoy God and to participate in his mission to fill the earth with his glory and love. Our identity as members of God’s family precedes, forms, and motivates our mission. We strive to give proper attention to the various dimensions of our purpose: upward (worship), inward (fellowship and discipleship), and outward (local and global evangelism and missions).
